ENHANCE!
You know if movies when the CIA guys always ‘enhance’ images… that is soo fake and it always drives me crazy. I had that in head during this assignment… even though I didn’t really do anything that related to it, just thought you’d like to know.
What I did do is make an app that gives you the scale of images in the ‘Celestron Hand Held Digital Microscope’ at various magnifications in the unit of hairs.
Why did I do you say? Well, I was thinking about scale and microscopes are realized that I have a hard time imagining what 20x or 400x really means… they are abstract, very small (or large) amounts that I am not accustomed to; so I figured I would translate those measurements into something everyone is somewhat familiar with: the width of a human hair. I doubt any normal person actually knows the width of a human hair… but it is a cliche and we can all pluck a hair to see how thin it is.
In my app you can switch between the 20x and 400x views and dynamically measure things on the image. In this version it just loads one of pairs of still images, it also works with live video, but I figured you at home didn’t have a digital microscope. Keys 1,2, and 3 switch between the images.
